Reliving the Greatest Days in History

We are just days after Yom Yerushalayim -- the anniversary of our miraculous return to Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Days War, and just days before Shavuot, the anniversary of the greatest moment in human history, the day that forever reshaped human destiny.
These days are infused with a unique awareness -- our Sages teach that the Torah came into this world entwined with the Sword. Our mission in this world demands devotion to Torah study and the readiness to sacrifice and fight for its Truth.
These are the facts of our existence from Biblical times until this very day.
In our lifetime, we are forever indebted to the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, G-d's holy agents for delivering His gift of Jerusalem and our ancestral lands to us. We are especially indebted to the Scholar-Warriors who live the lesson that our Sages teach, as they intertwine their Torah studies with military service. These Religious Zionist heroes comprise only 14.7% of Israel's population, yet disproportionately represent 27.4% of the combat forces!
These great days give us pause to thank G-d for the privilege of being alive at this time in history, and also to show our appreciation to the Soldier-Warriors who continue to serve in the Divine Plan of the Return to Zion, the process of reconstituting authentic Jewish life in modern Israel.
We also remember that while our soldiers are in Miluim (reserve duty), their wives are fighting a battle of their own. For hundreds of days, these women carry the weight of households and finances alone. The price is high: months of separation strain the fabric of marriage, and the long absences of fathers challenge the stability of the home.
