BD"H Rabbi Adler, z"l
Yeshiva of the Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC.) Since 1979, he was a major force in shaping the Religious Zionist community of Teaneck in particular and the Jewish community of northern New Jersey in general. I was privileged to have contact with him since our days together at Yeshiva University, as a rabbinical colleague, and as a neighbor.
Since I became involved with Keren HaTzadik in 2005, (at the time of the expulsion from Gush Katif,) Rabbi Adler z”l was among the first supporters and always a strong advocate for our programs. I cannot remember a single time that he refused my request for funds. Our conversations were generally brief – he just needed to know where to send the shul’s donation, which was always a generous amount. I will always be grateful for his support and encouragement.
I regret that I did not get to know him better; I learned many wonderful things about him today from the eulogies at his funeral here in Israel. A video of the funeral and the eulogies is available here.
Rabbi Adler will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Only G-d can calculate the incredible impact that this one man had and will continue to have as his legacy lives on. His memory will certainly be a blessing.
Dear Friends,
I want to share with you an experience that touched me deeply. On Wednesday, I traveled to Jerusalem to attend the distribution of food and supplies for Yom Tov at Mercaz HaRav Kook, the flagship yeshiva of the Religious Zionist movement.

Hundreds of couples came. The first hour was for wives whose husbands are currently serving in the IDF. In the second hour, young men came during their short breaks from Torah learning and from the wider community. Volunteer Distribution Coordinator Shmuel Buganim, a rabbinical soldier-scholar at the Yeshiva, received special leave from his army commander in order to supervise the event while in uniform.
You should have seen the faces of the recipients! Many came up to express their heartfelt thanks to our donors. I heard firsthand what it means when husbands return home not empty-handed, but with abundance for Yom Tov. It’s more than just food and supplies — our Soldier-Scholars and their families feel our love and appreciation for their double sacrifice: devoted advanced Torah Study and loyal service in the IDF.

I davened Mincha with the yeshiva. The supplemental Tehillim were recited with a passion that bespoke the scholars’ sense of mission and their keen awareness that their close comrades are currently in harm’s way.
With this in mind, I am proud to introduce you to Torah u’Gvura, our newly founded sister organization in Israel, carrying out HATZADIK.ORG’s mission on the ground. Together, with your partnership, we are ensuring that Israel’s Soldier-Scholars—the modern-day Maccabees—receive both the material support and the moral encouragement they so deeply deserve. Torah u’Gvura will also help implement HATAZADIK.ORG’s marriage workshops and programing for the “miluimnikiot”, wives of the reservists.
Reb Moshe, these Soldier-Scholars, Hesder students, and alumni are the future leaders of Am Yisrael—our rabbis, dayanim, poskim, teachers, principals, and community builders in Israel and around the world. At this critical juncture in Jewish history, this is the moment to stand with them and be part of the developing future of the Jewish People. With heartfelt thanks and blessings for a very good new year for you and all of Israel -- Shana Tova,Moshe
P.S. A generous donor who survived a house fire donated smoke detectors for the recipients. If you haven’t checked your smoke detectors recently, now is a good time to do so. Shana Tova!
