He came back, but who is he now?

“My husband came back from war a different person. I cried all night when he returned. I couldn’t imagine how we’d find our way back to each other. These workshops gave us the tools to start over — to heal, to talk, and to love again. Thank you.”
Shalom,
The week of July 20 was nothing short of amazing at HaTzadik.Org. I’m excited to share how your support for 3 events directly enrich the lives of military families during some of their most trying times.
1. In the northern Moshav HaZoreim, we hosted an Evening for Wives of Active-Duty Soldiers — a space for women to connect, share, and draw strength from one another while their spouses are deployed. An expert therapist led a powerful workshop, creating a warm environment of healing, empathy, and mutual support.
2. In partnership with Mosdot Ohel Shimon, we sponsored a Fun Day for Miluim Children, for kids whose fathers are currently serving in the IDF reserves for hundreds of days. Laughter, games, and pure joy filled the air — a much-needed escape for these resilient kids, and a reminder that they’re not alone.
3. But our most impactful event was the Couples’ Retreat at Kibbutz Lavi, jointly sponsored by HaTzadik.Org as part of our “Refreshing Love After Marriage” initiative. More than 80 couples from the Magen David Battalion 8551 participated in intensive workshops designed to help them reconnect and rebuild their relationships after the strain caused by prolonged military service.
One wife shared:
“My husband came back from war a different person. I cried all night when he returned. I couldn’t imagine how we’d find our way back to each other. These workshops gave us the tools to start over — to heal, to talk, and to love again. Thank you.”
Recognizing how hard it is for couples to seek help, we made the retreat accessible: couples paid a token 420 shekels ($125), while the remaining 1,600 shekels per couple (approx.$500) was covered by HaTzadik.Org, HaTorah v’HaGevurah, and other generous donors. The impact of the retreat has sparked a remarkable wave of interest. Since the conclusion of the event on Friday, there’s been a flood of calls from other battalions eager to organize similar retreats. Even senior IDF officers have reached out to learn more.
This is the first time that a battalion organized such a retreat exclusively for its own fighters, — and it’s already changing the army’s conversation around family resilience. But we need your help to bring these life-changing retreats, workshops, and events to many more soldiers, their wives and children — helping them reconnect, heal, and thrive. After he’s served hundreds of days in uniform, and she’s held the homefront with strength and sacrifice — don’t they deserve the chance to find each other again and build their love?
Please contribute generously today and help us continue this essential work. Every donation brings us closer to helping couples meet again and rebuild after the challenges of prolonged deployment.Help us give more soldiers and their spouses a second chance.
