Our heroic soldiers and their wives are living uncomfortable lives for many months so that the rest of us can live comfortably year-round.

Am Yisrael is giving back to these amazing people! With G-d’s help and the support of all His wonderful partners like you, Keren HaTzadik’s Shabbat of Strength and Love: Building Bonds and Resilience was a fantastically successful life-changing event for 124 soldiers and their wives.

Couples enjoyed an enriching and inspiring Shabbat in Tiberias on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Even from the photo above you can see the renewed light and joy on their faces.

Here are highlights of the Shabbaton, with some take-away ideas, appropriatefor 9 Av as well:

Husbands and wives refreshed their relationship while honing various communication skills under the expert guidance of Ilan and Hila Yifrach, a leading marriage coaching couple and popular authors in Israel.

One take-away idea: Rav Kook zt"l writes that among life's greatest challenges is stepping out of one's own self-centeredness to appreciate another person, especially one's spouse.

Rav Amichai Gordin of Yeshivat Har Etzion enlightened us throughout Shabbat with Torah insights for relationships and provided inspiration during this challenging period of Jewish history. There is no fear when we know and feel deeply that G-d is with us non-stop.

Retired Brigadier General Ari Singer interpreted the broad context of the war and Jewish history. In a Q&A, he reacted to soldiers' halakhic and moral dilemmas in battle.

A guiding thought: When we know who we are, individually and as a People, we can face even the most cruel enemy.

Chief Education Officer of the IDF, Brigadier General Ophir Levios, emphasized how the Jewish People build on the ruins of disaster, emerging stronger. We, and especially our soldiers and their heroic wives, are writing history, building their personal futures, the future of Israel, and the Jewish people.
